Blogging Sugar Land

Featured

In 2008, I finished my first novel Sugar Land, which was subsequently long-listed for the Man Asian Literary Prize that year. (The first chapter was also published in Ideya, the journal of the humanities of the College of Liberal Arts of De La Salle University on 1 September 2009, edited by Ronald Baytan.)

But I was unhappy with it, and thought that I should tinker with it for a while, until I’m satisfied enough to publish the entire thing. Every time somebody would ask me about it (friends, writers, editors, my agent…), my automatic reply has been that “I’m still editing it.” Four years later, I got tired of giving the same excuse. So this is an attempt to finally make a go at the whole thing, revise it for real, one chapter a week at a time. Every Sunday.

The photo for the header is “The Road to the Boulevard” by Hersley-Ven Casero, which I think is just perfect for the feel of the novel.
